Once again a lively group of members of the local National Trust Association gathered together at the very convivial setting of Blunsdon House Hotel for the Annual New Year Lunch and fortunately it was a very pleasant February day and everyone arrived in jolly mood.
On arrival one collected the beverage pre -ordered ranging from lemonade to the different coloured wines. With a glass in hand one moves to find a friend and a place at a table. Chattering, laughter and clinking of glasses resound before we are called to order by our charismatic chairman who prays for silence whilst he speaks clearly and briefly. We have a minute's silence for our esteemed friend, fellow member Mrs Stella Tidmarsh who sadly has passed away. The chatting then continues as we wait with bated breath for the dish we ordered some time ago. (Thanks to Joan, the 'admirable' lady in charge who has put on one's name card your order as one had probably forgotten)
Wining and dining continue with the chatter reaching crescendo heights ( lovely to hear the happy laughter. Delicious puddings and coffee follow and all too quickly this popular function comes sadly to an end. Farewells resound and, 'Until next year', is heard all around the room.
Another very popular and successful local NT event. Thank you to all the organisers
